The Mitsubishi iMiev gets a price cut

It has taken Mitsubishi to adjust the prices of the iMiev in a more advantageous way relative to its siblings Citroën C-Zero and Peugeot iOn, but finally the long-awaited price cut for the electric iMiev in Spain has arrived.

Although it still costs a little more than its siblings, the iMiev will start selling for 30,490 euros before aid. If we deduct the aid offered by the government and by some regional administrations, the price could drop to 24,500 euros, perhaps a little less.

The price move by Mitsubishi is aimed at aligning the iMiev’s prices with those of its siblings, which will still remain slightly cheaper. Despite the cuts, the Nissan Leaf remains the king of electric cars in Spain, with 154 units sold in 2012; of the Franco-Japanese electric trio, the one that sold the most was the iOn, with 73 units last year. And the Leaf is more expensive but it is more car.

The iMiev will keep the equipment we have grown accustomed to, which is no small thing. It will be fitted with active traction and stability control, curtain and front side airbags, ABS, brake assist, among others. Inside, the central dashboard panel and silver interior details stand out, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever knob, a sound system with CD and MP3 player featuring a USB port, air conditioning, heated seats and Bluetooth for mobile phones, among other equipment details.
