The new Lexus LS500h hybrid will run at up to 140 km/h in 100% electric mode
The Japanese brand will introduce the new Multistage Hybrid system in the new LS500h that it will present at the Geneva Motor Show.
Lexus will introduce the new Multistage Hybrid system in its revamped LS500h. The flagship of the Japanese brand will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next March. The high-performance hybrid engine of the new LS500h delivers high levels of efficiency, acceleration and traction. This innovative powertrain allows the new LS500h to reach speeds of up to 140 km/h with the combustion engine switched off.
The Multistage Hybrid system was first installed in the company’s new premium coupé: the LC 500h. Now, the LS500h introduces this same technology using a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine coupled with two electric motors. This combination of hybrid engines outperforms the traditional LS500h. The Multistage Hybrid system brings the following improvements to the new LS500h: higher cruising speed at low revs, greater throttle responsiveness and the ability to reach speeds of up to 140 km/h with the combustion engine switched off. Fuel consumption has also been reduced, as have polluting emissions. The new LS500h with Multistage Hybrid system retains the smooth, quiet and sophisticated driving dynamics that characterise the Japanese brand’s hybrids.

What most surprises about the new LS500h hybrid is its four-speed gearbox. Lexus claims that this transmission will offer a feel very similar to that of the 10-speed gearbox of the standard LS500h. The transmission of this new premium hybrid saloon is therefore expected to deliver a linear, direct and continuous response.
Lexus has always been characterised by offering great comfort and interior quality in its vehicles, and the new LS500h will be no different. The luxury saloon will have an approximate length of 5.20 metres, offering ample space for the comfort of its occupants.
