The Nissan GT-R SpecM spotted during testing

When it comes to thinking about an even sportier version of an already sporty model, the first idea that starts to take shape is removing as many useless elements as possible to create a car that is “almost a race car”. It should have only what is essential to drive, with no unnecessary extra weight. So we start by stripping out the comfort features, the first things removed from a car that is going to be a bit more than ordinary.

But Nissan has already gone through that stage with the GT-R. Since a basic GT-R, as sold at the dealership, is already quite respectable, the SpecV has already managed to meet everything described above. Now it was the turn of those who want to go fast but sit comfortably in the car, and that is when the SpecM appears.

The SpecM fills a gap left open in the GT-R’s line-up by offering a little more equipment. To do this, Nissan has put a GT-R SpecM through its paces, and it has been spotted testing in Japan. At least from the outside, there are no noticeable differences from the current GT-R, except for something hidden under the front bumper, but the changes will mainly be inside.

Nissan plans to fit the GT-R with revised suspension for a more comfortable ride on long journeys, apparently softer. The seats will be replaced with more comfortable models, and the interior will get more luxury trim. It will also feature a high-quality audio and multimedia system.

The SpecM’s price will be slightly higher than the base GT-R, with the SpecV remaining the most expensive. There are no presentation dates yet, but since this is simply a redesign, I don’t think it will take long to reach the market.
