The Nissan Leaf is still Europeans' favourite electric car

Nissan has played a strong card with the Nissan Leaf, being practically the pioneer among manufacturers in offering an electric car aimed at the general public. So far the response has been overwhelming, as the Leaf has established itself as the best-selling electric car in Europe, reaching 11,120 units last year, double the figure for 2012.
Among the countries where the Leaf has been most successful, Norway must be mentioned, where the Leaf has earned the title of a genuine sales hit. In Norway, 145% more units were sold in January compared with the same month of the previous year, no less than the third most-sold car on the local market last year.
Although in smaller numbers, the Leaf is also leaving a deep mark in Spain, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Finland, Belgium and Great Britain. In our country 263 units were sold over the whole of last year and, although this is progress (making it the best-selling electric car in our country), they still cannot hold a candle to the 650 units registered in January alone in Norway.
Nissan is counting on further boosting Leaf sales thanks to the installation of more CHAdeMO fast chargers. There are around 1,000 chargers of this type in Europe, and they can recharge the Nissan Leaf to 80% of battery capacity in just 30 minutes at no cost to the user.
