The Renault Laguna Coupé features the dCi 110 engine, a powertrain that helps lower consumption and emissions and that will go on sale in France on 31 May.

Until now, the Renault Laguna Coupé offered a fairly appealing range of diesel engines, starting with the dCi 150 and going up to the 240-hp diesel V6. From now on, the rhombus brand will add the dCi 110 engine to make this attractive coupé’s line-up even more appealing.

With this 1.5-litre powertrain, the model’s consumption and emissions, as announced by the brand, are 4.2 L/100 km and 109 g/km, respectively. The powertrain will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, which, besides being an enjoyable transmission to drive, keeps the final price of the vehicle a little lower and helps keep consumption under control.

The dCi 110 version will be available from the Black Edition trim level, at a price of around €30,400 in France, starting 31 May, the date on which reservations for the model can begin. Among the other markets where this dCi 110 version will be sold are France, Belgium, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.

We’ll see how this small engine suits the Laguna, a car that is anything but small in size and has a respectable weight. While we don’t expect outstanding performance from the dCi 110, the aim is to find a formula in which low consumption is the main goal of this Laguna, although it does not seem that a coupé of this size and with somewhat higher ambitions can carry an engine that may turn out to be underpowered.
