A few days after the Octavia saloon, the third generation of the Octavia Combi makes its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. The novelties of the Combi could be summed up in the ample space the vehicle now offers, an improved interior, the use of safety and comfort systems, a new design and much improved fuel consumption. The 4×4 version with the Haldex clutch also makes its debut.

Capacity and space are essential in a family vehicle. The New Octavia Combi is 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase has grown to 11 cm and the boot capacity reaches 610 litres, but with the rear seats folded down, it reaches 1,740 litres.

The front end is identical to that of the saloon. The roofline slopes towards the rear and elegantly extends beyond the D-pillar. The rear lights extend further along the sides and rear, retaining the C-shaped lights of the saloon.

There are many safety assistants among the optional equipment such as multi-collision braking, Front Assist with City Emergency Braking, Driver Activity Assistant (fatigue detection), Proactive Occupant Protection and Lane Assist. Up to nine airbags are included, along with comfort features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, automatic distance control and Intelligent Light Assist. A new generation of radio and navigation systems also stands out.

The new engines of the third-generation Octavia Combi are up to 17% more economical than their predecessors. The new Combi will offer four petrol and four diesel engines. The GreenLine version achieves a consumption of 3.4 litres per 100 km and emits only 89 grams of CO2 per kilometre.
