The X-Bow and Ariel Atom are trembling: the Donto P1 arrives

We need to understand the philosophy behind these cars from the point of view of someone in a go-kart, low to the ground, linking corners and flooring it on the straights. Anyone who has never driven a go-kart may not fully appreciate it: the purest expression of performance motoring in cars; the new class initiated by the Ariel Atom and KTM’s X-Bow.
We have already talked at length about the old acquaintances. Now let’s talk about a new model that is arriving on the market to challenge the previous ones. The P1 that Donto Motor Company has unveiled is truly a real beauty. Something that will surely keep turning over in your mind for quite a while, if you follow the jump.
Donto Motor Company is an Argentine company created by businessman and racing driver Laureano Campanera. Development of the car was handled by the renowned chassis engineer Héctor Pérez, while the design is the work of Lucas López. The chassis, FIA-homologated, is made of stainless steel with carbon fiber structural panels. This made it possible to achieve a very light structure, bringing the total weight to around 700 kilos. But being light is no obstacle for the P1 to reach approximately 1.6G in corners.
For now the P1 uses a 1.8 Audi engine, which has reached 200 horsepower. The plans are to use another engine, also German, while the final steps are taken to try to export the P1 to the European market.
And I know you want to know the performance figures. Here they are: 4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 275 km/h, although the P1 will have a limiter at around 250 km/h for the production model.
