This is the lap that made the NIO EP9 the fastest electric car around the Nürburgring

NextEV, an electric carmaker, has finally published the full video of the record set by its electric supercar.

Months after the NIO EP9 became the fastest electric vehicle to complete a lap of the Nürburgring circuit, NextEV – the manufacturer of the supercar – has published the full video of the feat.

Last October, NextEV’s electric supercar recorded a time of 7 minutes and 5.12 seconds on the Nürburgring track, improving on the previous record set by the Toyota TMG EV P002 (7 minutes 22 seconds). Until now, only partial footage of the NIO EP9’s lap existed, but today we can watch the full video, and it is definitely worth it.

The speed the supercar reaches on the straights is truly impressive, as is its cornering. The vehicle hugs the road like a true limpet, and it even manages to complete a lap of the German circuit while emitting a faint mechanical sound. If you close your eyes, it sounds as if the record had been set by a spacecraft rather than a car.

It’s worth remembering that the NIO EP9 features four electric motors (one for each wheel) and four individual gearboxes. Combining all these elements, the car produces 1,341 CV of power and 6,334 Nm of torque.
