Volvo Cars presents M, the new mobility brand from the Swedish manufacturer
On 4 July 2018, Volvo Cars unveiled M, a new brand that will give access to new services and vehicles through a simple app
M, the new mobility brand of Volvo Cars, will be an app that allows users to have access to services and vehicles and, through an artificial intelligence service built into the app itself, the programme will analyse the user’s activity, thus building a profile that better matches their preferences and habits, offering a more personalised and effective experience.

One of Volvo Cars’ aims with this project is for M to be able to develop its own learning technology, which asks users about their specific needs, rather than simply informing them of where their vehicle is located.
M draws on 20 years of data and information collected by Sunfleet, which is a pioneering company in shared mobility within Volvo Cars. In fact, it is the leading shared vehicle company in Sweden, handling 500,000 transactions a year and a fleet of 1,700 vehicles. In 2019, the plan is to fully integrate this service into M, making it available to Sunfleet’s members.

“Volvo Cars is going to be much more than a car manufacturer. We are aware that urban users are rethinking traditional vehicle ownership. M is part of our response. We are evolving to become a direct-to-consumer service provider, and our new mission is to offer ‘freedom of movement’,” says Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars.
“Stockholm (Sweden) will be the development hub for M, and we have already carried out extensive testing there. A beta test will take place this autumn,” comments Eriksson.
This service will be available first in Sweden and the United States in spring 2019. Dates for Europe and the rest of the world have not yet been announced.
