Volvo presents the definitive solution so that children travel comfortably
The new Volvo XC90 features a cabin concept with a rather curious particularity: it is a child restraint system that replaces the front passenger seat and secures the child while providing a good level of protection

In other articles we have discussed the solutions that brands are developing in child restraint systems so that our children travel safely in cars. We also know that not all child seats on the market can be considered safe, so some attention must be paid to the model chosen to carry the child. Luckily, Volvo has thought about the definitive solution for transporting children comfortably and safely in the car.
This is the Lounge Console, a cabin concept designed precisely to provide the greatest comfort for occupants, including children travelling in seats adapted to their needs. This concept will be installed in the new Volvo XC90.
In this concept, the child is positioned in the place occupied by the front passenger seat, which has been replaced by a platform where the child’s seat sits. It is approved to offer maximum safety and comfort to the little one, so that they travel safely and without any problem. The position of the seat allows one of the adults to sit in the back, looking the child directly in the eyes, keeping watch at all times. For its part, the child also feels secure being able to see the person behind.

In addition, the elements surrounding this child seat are designed to hold all the utensils the little ones need to keep everything under control. The heated cup holders keep the baby bottle at the optimal temperature, while there is room for the nappy bag and everything else required. We can already assume that safety is not the only concern the Swedish manufacturer has had, as the comfort of both children and parents has also played a fundamental role in its development.
For now, everything remains a concept, and it is unknown how the issue of restoring the front passenger seat will be resolved once the child grows up, or whether the system can be reinstalled if there is a second baby. As it is not known when, or even if, this will reach production, there is no rush, but it would be nice if they told us.
