Will Skoda produce a four-seat convertible Octavia?

A rendered image shows what the bestselling saloon from Skoda would look like as a convertible.

Four-seat convertibles are no longer as popular as they once were. Few manufacturers still build cars for this segment, although some believe Skoda should join the game.

“Theo Philus Chin“, an image editor for the publication “car scoops“, has produced a render of the Skoda Octavia showing what the vehicle could look like in a hypothetical four-seat Cabrio version. Although it is only a fictional image, this convertible version looks quite convincing, and it bears a certain resemblance to the Audi A5 Cabrio.

Audi, the sister brand of Skoda, is one of the few manufacturers still producing convertible models. The A3 or A5 Cabrio compete with rivals such as the Mercedes C-Class and E-Class, as well as the BMW 2 Series and 4 Series convertibles.

In the more affordable market, Skoda’s parent company stopped producing the Volkswagen Eos, just as Toyota did with the Camry Solara and Chrysler with the 200 convertible. This leaves the Opel Cascada as the only representative of this more affordable segment.

It could be said that there is a gap in the market to fill, but would Skoda build this hypothetical Octavia Cabrio? The most logical answer is no. Lately, the Czech brand has focused its efforts on more mainstream segments such as SUVs, with launches like the Skoda Kodiaq itself. Nevertheless, should the Czech brand decide to produce an Octavia convertible by some chance, we know it would look extremely attractive.
