7 concept cars we would have loved to see produced
Many concept cars and prototypes unfortunately end up locked away in the vault of memories and never become reality.
Today we show you 7 concept cars that never made it to production but that we would have loved to see on the roads. Sometimes this happens for varied reasons, and at times incomprehensible to the eyes of the public: companies seem to decline to commit to a model and let it fade into oblivion. Behind this there are usually economic reasons: many prototypes showcase styling details or serve as “trial balloons” to gauge public acceptance, but putting them into series production would be unfeasible on a profitable basis. Today we review 7 of these concepts that never saw the light… and that would probably have been a resounding success.
Maserati Alfieri

There is no denying that Maserati has managed to do things right in recent years, positioning itself in a privileged place within the luxury car market. The Alfieri, however, is a controversial model because it keeps being delayed. Apparently this is because there are constant changes to the core concepts behind its development, and Maserati seems not to agree on the final result it wants to achieve. The announcement of this vehicle took place in 2014, and due to what we have just mentioned, it will not be until 2022 that it comes to light, according to Maserati.
Jaguar C-X75

This supercar from Jaguar was the big sensation of the 2010 Paris Motor Show, and it is no wonder given its futuristic design and gorgeous wheels, which even today, 8 years later, are in no way out of step with the current market standard. It was going to have a starting price of no less than 900,000 pounds, and honestly we don’t quite understand why Jaguar did not commit to it given the great reception and enthusiasm of the general public.
Mercedes C112

The intention of this model was to follow in the footsteps of the C111 series in the 1960s-1970s, aiming to become one of the most sporting models of the German brand to date. It bore some resemblance to the Le Mans racing cars of the era. The central chassis weighed only 59 kg and was to feature a 6-litre V12 engine producing 402 CV, surprising figures for the time. Unfortunately, it was never actually produced.
Honda Sports EV

This project from the Japanese manufacturer was presented last year. Its concept aimed to join the fever for fully electric cars that are beginning to flood the market with a futuristic, if somewhat curious, design. A car that caused considerable expectation thanks to its design, which combines retro with minimalist futurism, something like it came out of the film “The Fifth Element”, seems to be more a simple pose by Honda than a real project.
Volkswagen Golf GTI W12-650

This was going to become the biggest monster in the history of the German brand when it comes to compacts. The Golf GTI W12 featured a spectacular design, which many may not have fully liked, even going so far as to call it tacky, but, nevertheless, its monstrous 612 CV engine and what seemed like it was going to be a rear-wheel-drive model made enthusiasts’ mouths water.
However, it only remained a simple concept from the brand, trolling us all…
Subaru Viziv Tourer

It is possible that this model will eventually be developed, however, there is no news about it yet. It will be a hybrid that will have 300 CV and measure 4.78 metres in length. Apparently it aims to compete in the same territory as the Audi RS 6; we will see if it manages it…
Toyota TJ Cruiser

The idea behind this model from the Japanese manufacturer is to combine the front end of an American SUV, with the particularity that it would be spacious and comfortable inside. From my point of view it had a horrendous design, yet original, which would undoubtedly win over more than one fan. It was yet another bet on making a fully electric SUV, however it seems that Toyota has declined the project in favour of others of greater importance.
