GranTurismo MP4-12C Curiosities Safety
A Corvette, a Viper, a McLaren and a Maserati collide on the same stretch of autobahn
Four sports cars have crashed within 48 hours on the same German autobahn stretch.

We generally talk about the car culture that exists in Germany, mainly on the fast autobahn stretches with no speed limit. If you have been to Germany you will have seen that everyone knows their role to perfection, both those driving in the right-hand lane and those overtaking on the left at more than 300 km/h (there are exceptions, of course).
But there comes a point when other factors outside car culture come into play, such as caution. It is hard to keep control of a car if it has been raining for several days, when faced with the most insignificant manoeuvre and at the speeds these vehicles can reach, which I will mention and which have crashed within a few hours of each other on the same stretch of autobahn: a Corvette, a Viper, a McLaren and a Maserati.

The first to start the string of crashes seems to have been the Maserati GrandTurismo, bought just a few hours earlier by its owner, so it is said (though we should not put too much faith in these additional claims, in my view). That same Friday, a McLaren MP4-12C crashed in the same spot and was completely destroyed, as you can see in the photos.

The following day dawned rainy again and a Dodge Viper ACR suffered serious damage against the motorway barriers; the car had been rented a couple of hours earlier. Finally, a Chevrolet Corvette also suffered from the slippery asphalt, although the damage to the “Vette” does not appear to be as serious.

In every case, nobody was seriously injured, although the final outcome could have been much worse. There are still people who believe that because they drive a super exotic sports car or a luxury car, they are immune to having a high-speed accident whether it rains or not.
