A Lamborghini Huracán Performante crashed due to misuse of Launch Control
This Lamborghini Huracán Performante has just suffered a crash after using Launch Control on a public road and subsequently losing control.

The contemporary supercar segment has changed in many respects compared to the one we knew in the past. These differences are reflected in its level of safety, the type of engines it uses and the various driver assistance systems. With this in mind, we can expect the most radical and high-performance models to demand far less skill at the wheel than their predecessors did, but this does not mean we should stop showing respect for this segment, or any other, something this Lamborghini Huracán Performante has reminded us of after crashing through misuse of the Launch Control system.
Nowadays, every vehicle comes with a range of aids and safety measures that allow us to travel and get around with greater peace of mind, something that is also reflected in the most radical models. Over time, we have seen power figures climb relentlessly, which forced engineers to develop a set of elements capable of managing it.
However, these vehicles still offer the option to switch off all kinds of aids and support systems for more experienced drivers who want to showcase their skills on the track. That situation arises when we activate the Launch Control system, which disengages traction control so we can perform the fastest possible launch as many times as we like.

This function is featured on the star of our article, the Lamborghini Huracán Performante, or in other words, the most radical version of the Italian brand’s entry-level supercar. Under its skin lies an endangered naturally aspirated V10 engine capable of producing 640 CV of power and 600 Nm of torque, figures complemented by the advanced ALA aerodynamic system of the Lamborghini.
As expected, these specifications were designed to be tested on a closed circuit and not on public roads, where this accident took place. After a supercar gathering, the owner of this Performante decided to activate Launch Control to leave the spot, causing a loss of traction that led to a collision with a wall and a tree, elements that caused significant damage to the Italian bull after the impact.

Luckily, at the time no passersby were in the area and the driver walked away unharmed from the accident. The moral of this story? We should not misuse our vehicle regardless of its segment or performance, since we risk not only having an accident ourselves but also involving other people in it.
