A military vehicle for everyday use? Well, it seems so
This everyday military vehicle is valued at more than 300,000 euros. It lacks no detail, and its interior is packed with luxuries and comforts for its passengers.
Nowadays, most car manufacturers are focused on developing vehicles with clean technologies and connectivity, but there is a small group that still bets on large, heavy and powerful vehicles such as the Hummer. Mil-Spec Auto is one of them, and it has launched a Hummer H1 inspired by the army.
This everyday military vehicle has a price close to 300,000 euros. Considering that a standard Hummer H1 costs around 100,000 euros… it doesn’t seem such a crazy amount. Based in north Detroit, Mil-Spec Automotive takes Hummers, strips them down and rebuilds them from scratch with a focus on a much tougher off-road capability, as well as a touch of comfort and luxury that would be alien to any other military vehicle.

Mil-Spec Automotive’s Hummer H1
This tuner has hand-built twelve launch units. These Hummer H1s fit a 6.6-litre Duramax engine from the LBZ version of the 2006 Alpha H1. This powerplant delivers 500 CV and 1,356 Nm of torque. In addition, the engine is paired with a six-speed Allison gearbox.
The all-wheel-drive system has also been replaced by a newer unit from a General Motors high-definition truck, which makes it rear-wheel drive until the wheels start to slip. The axles have been upgraded to the military versions of the Humvee, with a selectable ARB Air Locker on the rear axle.

The chassis floor is welded in aluminium and aims to help reduce road noise. It also fits a lot of soundproofing material both on the floor and in the cabin.
The suspension system adds four inches of height adjustment. It adjusts automatically depending on passengers or load. In addition, the shock absorbers are adjustable across 8 height settings.
It is painted with a Kevlar-reinforced paint for greater durability. We must not forget the bars at the front and rear, which include a winch capable of pulling up to 5,500 kilograms.

Mil-Spec Automotive’s Hummer H1: what is its interior like?
As far as the interior is concerned, it is finished in marine canvas and in two shades of vinyl-trimmed leather covering the entire cabin instead of carpets. The only original parts of the vehicle that remain are the front seat mounts. The instrument cluster is replaced with a retro design with analogue gauges. In addition, altitude, GPS speed and performance can be read.
Passengers can enjoy cup holders, vintage power sockets, USB and 12 V connections, an aerial audio system, an air compressor and a tyre inflation hose.
The Mil-Spec Automotive Hummer H1 is enormous and may be off-putting to some, but it has a capable and adventurous character. Who wouldn’t want to get behind the wheel at least once in their life?
