A new charging station in Madrid offers 40 high-power points for electric cars
Madrid has a new fast-charging station located in the car park of the Nuevos Ministerios metro station, with capacity for 40 vehicles.

The fast-charging points allow electric vehicle batteries to be charged more efficiently and in less time. This is something Spain’s charging infrastructure needs, and manufacturers are aware of it and are promoting the installation of this type. In Madrid, a fast-charging station has just been inaugurated, with capacity to serve 40 vehicles.
It has been installed in the car park of the Nuevos Ministerios metro station, which underwent a refurbishment that made it possible to install this charging point right on the Avenida de la Castellana. This new installation offers 40 high-power chargers and makes these facilities the largest and most powerful fast-charging point in the country.

The combined power of the 40 charging points adds up to 3,200 kW, which far exceeds the two 50 kW chargers that had been serving the same location since 2020. With this installation, the options for electric vehicle users to charge their batteries are multiplied, and it helps promote the use of electric mobility in the Spanish capital.
The installation consists of 175 kW chargers and others of 350 kW, whose energy comes from certified 100% renewable energy and is distributed thanks to two 1,600 kW transformers. These chargers allow a model such as the Porsche Taycan, which features an 800-volt charging architecture, to go from 10% to 80% battery in about 18 minutes.
Porsche Ibérica is one of the companies that collaborated in building this fast-charging station in Madrid. In addition to installing the fast chargers, the car park has also received improvements to lighting and access. As a result, it has also become one of the most advanced charging points in the country and helps improve the infrastructure of these facilities across the whole country.
