Abu Dhabi police cars in action in this institutional video
The Abu Dhabi police are famous for having an impressive fleet of police cars, and they also make an effort to project that image to the whole world, with videos like the one we present to you, which sets these spectacular cars in motion in a chase

I’m sure you’ve seen at some point the spectacular cars that the Abu Dhabi police has to catch the bad guys. Among the cars its officers drive, a Lamborghini Aventador or a Bugatti Veyron stand out. Last July it added to its spectacular fleet a W Motors Lykan Hypersport, a supercar with a starting price of more than three million euros.
Obviously, not all the cars are like that, but on the city’s streets you can see this type of car, as here we see a Renault, a Seat or a Citroën, so they need powerful cars to carry out the relevant chases. Moreover, since it is a country where foreign investment is important, it doesn’t hurt to project a good image, right?
That is precisely what they seek with this video, which is made like a police movie. A driver, at the wheel of a blue McLaren MP4-12C, breaks the law by driving faster than the speed limit. To catch him, the police send a Mercedes Class E, a Ford Taurus and a couple of Volkswagen Touareg.
The villainous driver abandons his McLaren and gets behind the wheel of a Ferrari 458 (as expected, of course) and flees. The officers, aboard a Taurus, locate him and call one of the Nissan GT-R that serve in the Abu Dhabi police. The chase continues along the city’s immense motorways and the GT-R keeps up with the Ferrari.
In the end, a barrier of Nissan X-Trail makes the Ferrari stop and it is arrested. A spectacular display that also has one more element. According to this video, the emirate’s police also have image recognition technology that helps them detect license plates, with cameras located in the light bar on the roof. There is also facial recognition technology, which is what allows the police to locate the suspect.
We take this part with a grain of salt, because it seems still too complicated to equip in cars, although in Abu Dhabi it wouldn’t surprise us much. In the video, which is a promotional piece on security in this city, we feel as if we were watching a film by Michael Bay (without the explosions) or at least an action series. Impressive, right?
