Alfa Romeo My Car of Europe 2009, in Italy

The Alfa Romeo Mi.To has been named “Car of Europe 2009” in Italy by the IUGA (Italian Union of Motoring Press), shortly after the model went on sale in Italy, just 31 days later.
The Fiat Group has won numerous Car of Europe awards in Italy in previous years: Alfa Romeo 156 (1998), Alfa Romeo 166 (1999), Fiat Panda (2004), Fiat Grande Punto (2007) and the Fiat 500 (2008).
The Lancia Delta came second, which is only natural in Italy, and the Ford Fiesta finished third in the voting. Italian models usually receive a very warm welcome from the Italian public, who tend to favour domestic products over foreign ones.
