Alpitronic unveils the new generation of its Hypercharger HYC400 ultra-fast charging point
With this evolved version of its HYC400 ultra-fast charger, Alpitronic introduces several improvements over the previous model, aimed primarily at enhancing the user experience and accessibility.
Alpitronic, the successful Italian company specialising in ultra-fast charging points, has just unveiled the new generation of its popular Hypercharger HYC400, after more than two years on the market with the current model. The new HYC400 Series 2 retains the maximum supported output of 400 kW, but introduces significant improvements focused on delivering a better user experience and universal accessibility.
The most notable feature of this new charging point is the front touchscreen, which now measures 22 inches compared with the 15.6 inches of the previous model, and is also positioned a little lower to make it easier to use. Four physical buttons remain beneath it, and the payment terminal has been relocated to this same position. The charging cables are placed on either or both sides, depending on the chosen configuration. Additionally, floor lighting has been incorporated, along with sensors that automatically adjust the brightness of the screen and of the unit’s own lighting according to ambient conditions.

One of the main objectives of the redesign of this new generation of the HYC400 has been to guarantee barrier-free access in compliance with the DIN 18040-3 standard. In the previous model, this feature was optional and the operating elements were installed at a height of 1,050 mm. Now, accessibility is standard, which considerably improves usability for people with reduced mobility.
In terms of technical specifications, the changes are minimal. The dimensions remain identical at 2185 × 732 × 663 mm, and the maximum output of 400 kW is distributed between the two charging points in increments of 50 kW, with up to four 100 kW modules each. In addition, the new silicon carbide power stacks are incorporated, already used in the more advanced HYC1000 system, maintaining an efficiency of up to 97.5 per cent. The maximum direct current becomes 600 amps on a sustained basis, compared with 500 amps in the previous model, while the voltage range remains between 150 and 1,000 V.
Furthermore, standby consumption rises to less than 100 watts, compared with 43 watts in the previous model, and only 5-metre cables are now offered, whereas previously 3.5-metre cables could also be used.

Finally, it should be noted that the new HYC400 Series 2 ultra-fast charging point does not replace the previous model. Both will coexist in Alpitronic’s European catalogue, allowing operators to choose according to the specific needs of each location.
