An e-bike from Tesla? Elon Musk opens the door
Tesla could launch an electric bicycle in the future, according to the brand’s CEO, Elon Musk.
The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, has opened the door to a new project: an electric bicycle from Tesla. In an interview with the online outlet Recode Decode, the company’s top executive stated the following: “An electric bicycle? I think we could make one, yes”. If this project went ahead, Tesla could bring about a genuine revolution in the e-bike industry.
In recent years, the e-bike sector has not seen major advances, but Tesla could mean the definitive boom for a form of eco-friendly mobility that is gaining more and more prominence. The experience of Tesla in engines and electric batteries would bring about a new paradigm in the industry.

The electric batteries that Tesla would use in its bicycles would be denser than current ones, which could extend their useful life to up to ten years; at present, batteries last only two or three years.
For its part, the size of the electric motor could be halved, doubling its power while being almost imperceptible within the frame of the bike. These drives would also be quieter than usual.

The electric bicycle from Tesla would surely be lighter than traditional models, and would even offer great modularity allowing it to fit in compact boots.
Will the electric bicycle from Tesla offer any energy regeneration system when braking? We wouldn’t be surprised.

The touchscreen infotainment display found in Tesla cars could take on an elongated shape to fit the frame of the bicycle. Unlike most e-bikes, the touchscreen would be one of the main elements in the design of this electric bicycle, and not a last-minute solution.
