Android Auto arrives across the DS range

The arrival of Android Auto means Apple devices no longer have exclusivity in displaying their content on the infotainment system of the French premium brand DS’s cars. Until now, the brand’s different models could mirror iPhone content thanks to Apple CarPlay, but from this June, the connectivity equipment also includes Android devices through the Mirror Screen system.

Thanks to this system, the driver can access all the apps on their smartphone and interact with them via Google Voice. Simply by giving a voice command, you can search for a song stored on the phone or in the cloud, create a to-do list, search for an address in Google Maps, make a call or dictate a text message.

The inclusion of Android Auto is not the only novelty from the brand, as the DS Connect NAV has also been added, offering 3D navigation graphics. It includes the TomTom Traffic app, which provides real-time traffic information, with the option to plan alternative routes, find petrol stations with the fuel price displayed and available parking spaces.

TomTom Traffic obtains its data from the DGT database and the Servei Català de Trànsit, though it also draws on information submitted by app users, who can create alerts about areas with temporary or permanent problems and the actual traffic conditions in the area.

For its part, DS Connect Box offers the ability to make emergency and assistance calls. It also includes DS Telemaintenance, which provides alerts about maintenance dates and any faults occurring in the vehicle’s systems. All of this is complemented by the MyDS app, available for iPhone and Android, which offers services such as finding where a brand vehicle is parked and walking routes from the parking spot to the final destination.

This app can manage information for several DS vehicles, provides brand information and shows the nearest DS assistance points. All of this is available on DS models, which take a step forward in the brand’s connectivity and improve on what it offered until now.
