Audi expresses its desire to produce a technologically advanced future hypercar
Audi has revealed its interest in producing a technologically advanced hypercar that would compete with the Mercedes AMG Project One or Aston Martin Valkyrie.

During the Geneva Motor Show held a few days ago, Audi revealed its interest in creating a new hypercar to compete with the Mercedes AMG Project One and the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
The German premium car manufacturer had already been researching the development of a hypercar using the technology of its Le Mans car, but decided to shelve the project to allow the vehicle to incorporate more advanced technology. Now, Audi has a clearer picture, and it seems only a matter of time before the brand’s new hypercar makes its debut.

The rumour started with an interview given by Audi’s director, Rupert Stadler, to the British publication Autocar. When asked about a possible rival for the Valkyrie, Stadler hinted that a hypercar of that kind could become a reality. “I am keen to develop whatever is possible in terms of new technologies. We have some very interesting ideas in this field, especially if you look at our interest in Formula E and electric mobility,” said the director of Audi.
It is still unknown whether the hypothetical hypercar from Audi will use an electric or hybrid powertrain. In this regard, it is worth recalling that its potential direct rivals – the Mercedes AMG Project One and the Aston Martin Valkyrie – both use hybrid powertrains.

Stadler’s statements are not the only evidence that Audi is planning to create a hypercar. Last month, Stephan Winkelmann – head of Audi Sport – stated that a hypercar with a high price would be a good way to prove the value of the brand. He also pointed out that Audi’s success in competition and its motorsport programmes will be of great help in technologically developing its future production models.
