Bentley announces the Birkin Mulsanne

The main novelty of Bentley this month is the Birkin Mulsanne, a new limited edition of the luxury saloon. If attendees at the Detroit Motor Show fail to find it at the Crewe firm’s stand, it is because the twenty-two units to be built in this edition will only be sold in Europe. The name “Birkin” refers to Tim Birkin, one of the members of the Bentley Boys group of British racing drivers who raced the brand’s models between the 1920s and 1930s.
The exterior features of this model are 21-inch wheels inspired by those of the prototype that previewed the design of the Mulsanne, and door sill plates with the unit number engraved on them. The Birkin Mulsanne is available in three colour schemes: Damson red, the new Ghost White, and a combination of Fountain Blue and Dark Sapphire.

In the interior, picnic tables are added for the rear seats, and three-dimensional representations of the Flying B are stitched into the headrests and carved into the wood of the dashboard. The colour and finish configuration of the cabin determines the look of the luggage set that comes free with this edition, on which the unit number also appears.
The standard equipment is completed by the Mulliner Driving Specification and Entertaining Specification packs. The first gives the driver an exclusive sporty driving mode, and the second a whole series of multimedia extras for the rear seats, such as a DVD player, Wi-Fi connection or iPads built into the picnic tables.
