Bentley Blower Jnr, the return of a classic as an electric car and in scale

This classic model from 1929 has returned to the market, albeit with some variation. It will feature an electric motor and will be slightly smaller than the original.

Bentley Clasico Electrico Aparcado

The Bentley Blower Jnr is one of the brand’s classic cars and one of the most popular in its entire history. But what is interesting is that it is not an exact recreation of the model; instead, it has been manufactured on a reduced scale, at 85% of the real size of the model. It will be an almost exclusive vehicle, because only 99 units will be produced and its price will not be within everyone’s reach.

Efforts have been made to give it an appearance very close to the original, and the chassis has been built from steel, among other materials. The bodywork is handmade from carbon fibre, replacing the ash wood used in the original model. The impregnated fabric covering has been retained, which gives it an original touch.

The bonnet has also been handmade, with parts such as the grille made from aluminium worked using traditional methods. It is attached to the chassis by buckled straps, something very typical of the original era. The cabin is designed for two people, in a 1+1 configuration, that is, as if it were a motorcycle.

The dashboard is also a faithful reproduction of the classic model, but with the reduction present throughout the whole model. The gauges imitate those of the classic car and display information on the battery status, driving mode and other data. As regards cargo capacity, it can carry a small bag or a box, although it does not have much room for it.

Engine and battery

As for the drivetrain, this revival of the classic is intended to be an urban vehicle. Hence its small size and the replacement of the combustion engine with an electric motor. The motor delivers a total output of 15 kW, equivalent to 20 CV. It can reach a top speed of 75 km/h in the United Kingdom and the European Union, while in the United States it will be limited to 45 km/h.

The range of this model will be around 100 kilometres, sufficient for getting around the city. The charging inlet is located at the front and allows charging with Type 1 and Type 2 chargers. The motor can offer three power levels, depending on how it is to be used. Comfort mode provides 3 CV, the Bentley mode allows it to deliver 11 CV and, finally, 20 CV is available in Sport mode.

The price of this revived electric car will be 90,000 pounds, which at the exchange rate will be roughly 105,000 euros. Production will begin in mid-2024 and, as I have already mentioned, it will be a limited edition of 99 units. Each one, by the way, will have a plaque with its serial number to show its exclusivity.
