Bentley Continental Flying Spur Blackline: even more distinguished
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Blackline has arrived to become the top of the range of the British saloon and the perfect indulgence for the most fortunate wallets.
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur is, with the permission of the Bentley Bentayga, the flagship of the British brand. It is one of the most refined and powerful saloons ever produced in automotive history, which is why it became the first model in this segment to break the 300 km/h barrier 14 years ago.
Therefore, Bentley has wanted to pay a well-deserved tribute with the new Blackline trim, which has already debuted on other models from the brand, such as its smaller sibling, the Bentley Continental GT. However, this luxurious finish has been more successful than the manufacturer anticipated, and 30% of the Continental GT models sold since this equipment level was launched have featured it.
A sportier look
The differences of the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Blackline compared to the other trims focus mainly on the exterior trim pieces, as its name suggests, all of which are painted in matte black.
Therefore, the Flying B logo, the enormous grille, the window surrounds and the bumper trim all receive this finish. The same treatment applies to the front and rear headlight surrounds. In addition, the side ventilation louvres and the exhaust outlets receive the same treatment, so the final look is much more sporty and aggressive.
To top it off, Bentley has fitted 21-inch wheels with five spokes, although if these are not enough, it offers 22-inch ones specifically designed by Mulliner for this exclusive version. We are sure that a set of tyres already costs more than many new cars.
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Blackline offers a world of possibilities
A car as exclusive as the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Blackline must have enough customisation options so that every customer feels they have bought a unique car.
For this reason, the British manufacturer offers a palette of up to 30 available colours for the bodywork. In addition, this wide range can be combined with up to 15 different interior configurations, so finding someone with an identical car is practically impossible.
The cabin is full of noble materials such as the immaculate wood that covers much of the dashboard. This area is also dominated by the 12.3-inch infotainment screen which, at the touch of a button, rotates to reveal a beautiful piece of wood with three gauges that give it a very classic and distinguished look.
More luxury, same dynamics
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Blackline offers several new features to make it even more exclusive and luxurious. However, it retains the same layout as the rest of the versions, so it still features elements such as the all-wheel drive system and four-wheel steering.
However, the crown jewel is under the bonnet: the engine available is the enormous 6.0-litre W12, equipped with two turbochargers to produce a power of 635 horsepower. This powertrain is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which has the demanding task of managing the brutal 900 Nm of torque. With all this, this nearly 2,500 kg giant goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 333 km/h, performance worthy of a true supercar.
We don’t know if we will be able to enjoy these enormous engines with their idyllic sounds for much longer, since Bentley has already announced that it will launch its first electric car in 2025. Therefore, if you are one of those fortunate enough to afford this wonder on wheels, don’t hesitate to do so.
