Bentley Continental GT Convertible 2019: open-air luxury at its finest

The Bentley Continental GT Convertible features an improved fabric roof and its brand-new 6.0-litre W12 engine producing 630 CV.

Bentley has unveiled the new Continental GT Convertible, the convertible version of its luxurious grand tourer. This elegant model reaches the market with a fabric roof that can be retracted in 19 seconds, at speeds of up to 50 km/h. In addition, the car’s soft top will be offered in up to seven different colours.

Improved fabric roof

Bentley states that the fabric roof of the new Continental GT Convertible features a new treatment that improves sealing and therefore the acoustics inside the cabin. In fact, the British brand claims the car is as quiet as the previous generation of the Continental GT Coupe despite being a convertible.

Luxury and comfort: its “hot spots”

The new Bentley Continental GT Convertible offers a range of components that make it one of the most luxurious models on the market. The grand tourer features, for example, a new system for warming the driver’s neck, an element that is quieter and has been improved over its predecessor. This “neck warmer” (interpretations aside) is integrated into the Comfort seats with heating, which in turn offer up to 20 different positions. The heated steering wheel, the seat heaters and the new heated armrests are the three elements that complete this luxurious list of equipment.

6.0-litre W12 engine with 630 CV

Under the bonnet of the new Bentley Continental GT Convertible sits the well-known 6.0-litre W12 engine, which in this model produces a staggering 630 CV and 900 Nm of torque. This powerplant, which so characterises the British brand, is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and its top speed is 333 km/h, exactly the same figure offered by the Coupé version, despite being penalised by a weight penalty of 160 kg; the convertible version weighs 2,414 kg.

Luxury interior

The extravagance of the performance is also reflected in the interior, with a highly luxurious atmosphere. Bentley states that the legroom of this convertible version is exactly the same as in the coupé variant, that is, quite generous. Furthermore, the car incorporates a high-definition infotainment system that includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen finished with the finest materials on the dashboard: leather, high-quality metals and exclusive woods.
