Bidding record for charity on eBay

Last month we reported how Volvo was promoting its new S60. The idea was to commission blind artist Esref Armagan (whose official website with detailed information about the Turkish artist can be found here) to draw the new flagship model of Volvo, blind as he is, and then auction it on eBay for charity.
Well, the bidding has now ended and the total amount reached 3,050 dollars, an eBay record for an item intended for charity. Specifically, it will go to the World Blind Union, headquartered in Canada and representing more than 150 million people in 177 different countries. 17 people took part in the bidding, which started at a modest 20 dollars, and 11,300 visitors came to follow how the bidding was going.
Over the years Armagan has built a reputation for his unique ability to capture perspective, colour and shape despite his profound disability (he was born blind, has never seen anything and has no visual awareness of any object except through descriptions and touch). Volvo is absolutely delighted with the process.
On Volvo’s official Facebook page you can watch a video about the new S60, which Fernando Álvarez brought us this week.
