BMW's new myBMW artificial intelligence services for BMW are already on their way
BMW has unveiled its projects for services and products related to the artificial intelligence and connectivity brought together under myBMW
Starting from the environment of the event known as #NEXTGen, the BMW Group has released the first details of what it has chosen to call a “digital ecosystem” or, put simply, the set of services and products related to artificial intelligence and connectivity.
Grouped under the same umbrella of BMW myBMW, the whole will consist of three categories: My Car, My Life and My Journey. The aim is to offer the brand’s customers a single portal of offers designed to facilitate and improve not only the driving experience but their life in general.
AI at the service of the user
The starting point of this new commercial dimension was the presentation of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, a virtual assistant built into the infotainment system of BMW cars, running the BMW 7.0 operating system.
When someone says “Hello, BMW”, the system starts a session in which, through its interaction with the user of the car, it learns everything about their tastes, needs, habits and preferences, so that each time they interact, this artificial intelligence system not only knows more about the person it is speaking with but also learns faster, resolving their needs or requests more quickly.
In addition to learning about its users, the system receives remote updates regularly, which improve its operation and efficiency.
Alexa joins BMW cars
Amazon’s famous device will also be part of BMW’s myBMW. Amazon’s Alexa will appear in Mini and BMW cars in the immediate future thanks to the agreement between the two corporate giants.
This integration will make it possible to carry out activities that, until now, the Amazon and BMW customer could only do at home and, from its launch, will be able to do from their vehicle.
From enjoying music chosen through the Amazon Music app to listening to audiobooks, accessing the shopping list or carrying out tasks compatible with home automation devices linked to Alexa, such as dimming lights, adjusting thermostats or opening the automatic garage door.
The mobile phone keeps adding functions
Devices such as the smartphone continue to prove that they are the most complete tool in the new digital era. So much so that, from BMW’s myBMW, this device, already indispensable for many, will also become the access key to the vehicle.
From the smartphone of the BMW user, using the BMW Digital Key system, access to the car can be locked or unlocked and the engine started. The device only needs to be placed near the door handle; once inside, as soon as the device is placed in the wireless charging slot, the system allows the engine to be started and the car to move off.
Electric mobility has a new ally
Thanks to BMW’s myBMW, users of cars from the BMW group with fully electric or plug-in hybrid drive systems will be able to check remotely the proximity to a charging point and book it if they are within 20 minutes of it.
After these basic brushstrokes, the products and services of BMW’s myBMW will be expanded upon and explored in more depth during the Frankfurt Motor Show, to be held from 12 to 22 September.
