Brabus prepares the Mercedes-Benz CLA

The German tuner Brabus has introduced, for the first time on the Mercedes-Benz CLA, modifications that alter both the exterior and interior appearance as well as the mechanics of the new front-wheel-drive saloon from the star brand. Brabus has not yet revealed final prices, although the first orders can already be placed.

At first glance, the main changes to the exterior of the vehicle focus on an exhaust system featuring twin dual exits at the rear and lightweight alloy wheels that range in size from 18 to 19 inches, both available in five different designs. The suspension uses stiffer springs that reduce the ground clearance of the Mercedes-Benz CLA. The front end remains intact from the AMG trim.

It is still too early to comment on the interior. Brabus has not offered any images of the cabin, although it does allow future customers to personalise the seats, the dashboard or the colour of the floor mats to their taste.

At launch, Brabus will only offer, mechanically speaking, the CLA 250, a two-litre petrol engine with turbocharging that in the Mercedes-Benz produces 211 CV. The tuner’s engineers, thanks to an increase in turbocharger boost pressure as well as slight modifications to the engine control unit, have managed to raise the power to 245 CV and the torque to 385 Nm. All the engine’s power is sent to the front wheels through an automatic dual-clutch gearbox.

Later on, Brabus will add the CLA 45 AMG to its engine range, with which power is expected to rise from the original 360 CV to an incredible 500 CV. On this occasion, the power would be transmitted to all four wheels, instead of just one axle.
