Cadillac Project GTP, the new racing car from the American brand
The GM brand has presented a rendering of the competition model with which it will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona starting in 2023.

Cadillac has been absent from international competition for just over two decades, and now wants to return to events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a new vehicle. This prototype, still in the development phase, has been designed to pass the homologation of its characteristics in the IMSA and also in the WEC. This will allow it to compete in both categories, that is, in the United States as well as in international competitions.
And it arrives just as IMSA has created a new top category, the Gran Turismo Prototype. That is where the name Project GTP comes from. This LMDh vehicle has been developed together with Dallara and it seems it is already practically ready to begin track testing that will allow it to be homologated in both categories.

A recognizable Cadillac
The elements of this Project GTP are adapted for competition, and many of its elements are very recognizable as part of Cadillac models. One of its main features is the LED headlights placed vertically at the ends of the hood.
In the early design phases it was decided not to include a rear spoiler, although in the latest render of the car that has been seen so far, this element can be seen to reinforce its aerodynamics. Even so, these renders only approximate the final design, so the car that will be seen on track will have significant changes compared with these images, as is usual.
One of the main hurdles for this model is trying to satisfy both competitions and stand up to the cars of the major manufacturers taking part. Lined up against this Project GTP will be the LMH vehicles from Toyota, Peugeot, Ferrari, Glickenhaus and ByKolles at Le Mans, and the LMDh vehicles from Audi, BMW and Porsche at Daytona.
It will be precisely at this second event where it will run for the first time and show that the brand’s engineers know what they are doing.
