Cadillac wants to grow 40% in the Chinese market in 2014

That the automotive market in China is growing is something we already know very well. It is one of the few countries where car sales increase year after year. And even more so if it concerns luxury and high-end cars. That is why a manufacturer like General Motors wants to firmly establish itself in the country, and it will do so through Cadillac.

The growth of the American brand during the first six months of 2014 has been put at 71.1%, which doubles the average growth in luxury car sales in this Asian country, which stands at 32%. These results encourage the brand’s executives to push hard to further increase the presence of Cadillac on Chinese streets.

From the Chinese subsidiary, work is being done to establish the brand firmly among the tastes of Chinese users, so that the brand becomes part of the daily life of the Chinese. For the time being, the aim is for several of the models to be manufactured in the country itself, in order to reduce import costs and make the cars available more quickly and efficiently.

At present, the Chinese factory is building the Cadillac XTS, although the possibility of increasing the range of cars assembled in the country is being considered. They have not made the decision public, but the intention to grow in China will surely lead General Motors to move the production of several of them to Asian factories.

With this strategy, Cadillac will have a certain advantage over other competitors, such as Lexus, for example, since they do not manufacture in China, and in this way it could outperform those other brands thanks to the proximity and the integration into the local market of its models.
