Can you request a duplicate driving licence at a gestoría (administrative agency)?
Following the earlier authorisation of Correos (Spain’s postal service) as a channel for requesting a duplicate driving licence, gestorías will now also be able to carry out this procedure.

The Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT, Spain’s Directorate-General for Traffic) and, in particular, its Provincial Headquarters are reducing their workload thanks to the online application of some procedures or to the delegation to other bodies of the processing of formalities related to driving licences or permits.
While it is well known that gestorías are authorised to register vehicles, until this November they could not process a request for a duplicate driving licence, a procedure that can now be requested.
Following an agreement between the DGT Director, Pere Navarro, and the President of the General Council of Administrative Management Colleges, Fernando Santiago Ollero, it is now possible to request a duplicate driving licence through gestorías spread across the whole of Spain.
In the event of a change of address, damage, loss or theft, applicants may either go to the traditional provincial DGT office, the aforementioned headquarters, or to any administrative gestoría.
According to the data available, up to 600,000 duplicate applications are processed each year due to drivers changing address, the deterioration of these documents, or their loss or theft.

This procedure was exclusively handled until, since this summer, Correos has also been authorised to process the request for a duplicate driving licence at any of its roughly 2,400 offices.
Although it remains possible to apply for a replacement of the original licence at any of the JPTs, it should be noted that an appointment must be booked before making such a request.
This is not necessarily the case at gestorías. According to the College of Administrative Managers, this option increases by up to 6,000 new points where the application can be made.
The procedure begins with the in-person submission of the application through a gestoría. In turn, the gestoría must forward the documentation to the College of Administrative Managers, which must in turn do the same with the General Council of Administrative Management Colleges. Once this transfer of documentation has been completed, the General Council will send the request to the Directorate-General for Traffic, which will pass the order on to the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre (the National Mint and Stamp Factory), which will issue the duplicate driving licence and send it to the applicant.
