Canoo, a new electric van for daily deliveries in the United States
Electric last-mile vans are becoming increasingly common, and from the United States comes a new proposal that will reach the market in 2022.

One of the interesting things that electric mobility is bringing is the emergence of new companies that offer innovative solutions for building electric vehicles. One of these new companies is Canoo, an American manufacturer that is preparing a new fully electric delivery vehicle. For now it is a fairly advanced project, but it is expected to become a reality in 2022.
These “last-mile” vehicles are an interesting proposal, since they are designed for delivering right to the doorstep of the final recipient. These final legs are usually problematic because most trips are urban and involve very long routes. A transport vehicle with a conventional engine can cause a lot of polluting emissions, so the proposal of a new electric vehicle for this purpose is a very good idea.

Two models built from scratch
Canoo has shown two different models that allow parcels to reach their final recipient without causing the problems that combustion engines produce. They are called Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle 1 and Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle 2 (MPDV1 and 2) and have been built from scratch with the company’s own technology.

CANOO MPDV2
The MPDV1 has characteristics similar to the Chevrolet Express Cargo, but with greater load capacity thanks to a flat battery placed in the floor and the absence of a combustion engine. In the space where the engine would go, cargo could also be placed, which makes it more practical than any similar vehicle.
As for the MPDV2, it is expected to have a load capacity of 12.75 cubic meters, with a payload of up to 900 kilos. The powertrain output is 200 CV and the torque is set at 320 Nm. The battery powering this motor can be 40, 60 and 80 kWh, depending on the version chosen, and the company claims that charging from 20 to 80% will take just 28 minutes.
Another advantage is that it will be possible to use the battery’s energy to power electric tools, since it will have connections for this type of tool to be used in daily work. A pair of electric commercial vans with a very futuristic and attractive look. It will also be ready to use an autonomous driving system once the right software is available.
