Cars with history: Ford Capri

Ford Capri de 1983

As a lover of classic cars, I frequently visit a few websites on the Internet with information and details that are hard to find almost anywhere else. Not that I have any particular restoration project in mind, but there are some cars that are not easily forgotten.

I’ve just spent a very pleasant while looking at photos of a truly spectacular 1983 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection. And I decided it was a good time to talk a little about the Ford Capri, a car that truly captivates me.

This particular model was launched in 1981, replacing the 3-litre V6 engine. The 2.8 engine (inherited from the Ford Granada) produces 160 horsepower and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. Later, a turbo version of the same car was offered, reaching 190 horsepower.

The Capri came in many versions from its debut at the 1968 Geneva Motor Show until production ended in 1986, with nearly two million units built. During its heyday, the car was so successful that, for example, in 1970 it was said that one in every four Ford sold was a Capri.

We don’t know whether the Capri will return to the market one day (there have been some attempts), but at least we can enjoy examples like this one, in excellent condition.
