Sometimes rumours travel even faster than the decisions of the manufacturers themselves. Proof of this—although on this occasion it could well come true—is the new information that has just reached us about the development platform for the next Dodge Viper, a model that, unless we are being misled, should be unveiled for 2012.

It seems that, above all thanks to the alliance between Chrysler and the FIAT Group, the next American supercar could use the platform and, above all, the chassis used by the 8C Competizione of Alfa Romeo in the implementation of the new Viper.

At a time when everyone is still eyeing the crisis warily, from my point of view this is a very worthwhile option, above all if what we are looking for is to save costs, since we are talking about a platform whose dimensions are more than adequate for building a model like the new Viper and, above all, for housing a powerful American V12.

What is perhaps not entirely clear is the opinion of the most ardent fans of the marque of the ram, because however much American heart and blood runs through their veins, it will remain an old platformMaserati.
