"Cheap" electric from Tesla could come out of Giga Berlin
With this model Tesla could reach a much broader audience, since its price would be around 15 thousand euros cheaper than the entry version of the Model 3
Some recent reports indicate that the American manufacturer intends to produce a future compact model at its plant located in Grünheide (Germany), known as Giga Berlin. According to these reports, Elon Musk himself would have confirmed it to some senior employees at the plant during a recent visit there.
Although it is claimed that this “cheap” electric car, with a base price of around 25 thousand euros, will be produced at the company’s German plant, there is no data at all on when this might happen.

Although some recent rumours suggested that production of this model would begin at Tesla’s new plant in Mexico, the reality is that this possibility appears to be losing ground. The only certainty is that construction of the plant has not even started, and everything points to the American manufacturer having decided, given the current economic situation, to be more cautious and delay its construction. As a result, it is now said that the first vehicles will not leave the Giga Mexico assembly line until 2026 at the earliest, with 2027 also a likely date.
Everyone is going to want one
On the other hand, the recent new biography of Elon Musk claims that production of this compact model will begin at Giga Texas. In any case, it is not ruled out that it will be carried out not in one but in two plants, in order to meet the large global demand expected for this vehicle. If so, the chosen plants could well be Giga Texas and Giga Berlin.

At present, Grünheide only produces some versions of the Model Y sold in Europe, not all of them. Producing new models would require some adaptation work at the plant, and this is precisely what seems set to happen during the first half of next year. We understand that this is to have everything ready for when the updated Model Y, codenamed Juniper, begins rolling off the assembly line at this European plant.
