Citroen launches a limited edition of the C5 with hybrid engines, the C5 X "Hypnos"

Citroën has unveiled a gem of a car, the C5 X Hypnos limited edition, a variant that takes luxury and comfort to unmatched levels by sharing the same features as the C5 X but with “everything included” and with the 225 ë-EAT8 plug-in hybrid engine. Inspired by the C5 Hypnos model, this vehicle is much more than a car: it is a sanctuary of tranquillity on wheels.

The God of Sleep on Wheels

The name “Hypnos” comes from the Greek god of sleep, and this limited edition lives up to its name by offering exceptional comfort. Driving a C5 X Hypnos is like immersing yourself in a world of serenity and relaxation, where every journey becomes an oasis of rest. Arriving more rested than when you set off is a promise kept that Citroen has made a reality.

The name Hypnos also symbolises the contrast between the exterior and interior of the vehicle. While the exterior is clad in an intense midnight blue, the interior is a play of light and clarity that wraps you in a peaceful, serene atmosphere.

Hypnos is also a nod to Citroën’s history: at the Paris Motor Show in 2008, the brand presented a hybrid concept car with the same name, paving the way for hybridisation in high-end vehicles.

An Impressive Exterior

The C5 X Hypnos has an exterior that does not go unnoticed. The striking Eclipse Blue colour gives the vehicle’s silhouette a unique status and character. Infrared red details enhance its style and personality. Along the sides, gloss black trim with infrared accents and the Hypnos badge stand out as dynamic, distinctive elements.

To add contrast and elegance, this model is equipped with 19” AeroX alloy wheels with a special finish that combines onyx black and a diamond effect, all covered in a dark varnish. This subtle detail gives it an unmatched character.

If Eclipse Blue is not your thing, the C5 X Hypnos will also be available in the sophisticated Platinum Grey colour.

Bright and Serene Interior

The interior of the C5 X Hypnos is a true sanctuary of serenity. A bright, airy ambience unique to Citroën has been created, inviting calm and well-being. The use of light, warm materials creates a harmony that is the brand’s signature.

The light-coloured perforated leather seats are a perfect example of attention to detail. The backrests and cushions feature a chevron pattern, characteristic of Citroën, and the side bolsters are made of leather, enhancing the feeling of spaciousness and comfort. The upper part of the seats and the headrests are upholstered in light grey Alcantara®, adding softness to the touch. These elegant, comfortable seats carry the Hypnos label on the backrest, underlining their exclusivity.

This harmony extends across the centre armrest, the sides of the centre console and the door medallions, all in a light tone with chevron details. The interior is also dressed with Karuun® decorations that add a natural touch to the door panels and dashboard, reinforcing the sense of openness and space.

The C5 X Hypnos is not only a work of art in interior design, it also offers exceptional comfort. The Citroën Advanced Comfort® seats ensure a smooth, dynamic ride, while the generous passenger space creates a sense of well-being from the very first moment.

In addition, the front seats are heated, with massage and ventilation, and feature electric lumbar adjustment, offering personalised comfort. The C5 X Hypnos limited edition will be available from 4 September, with the first customer deliveries scheduled for early 2024. However, the version with the 225 ë-EAT8 plug-in hybrid engine has a starting price of €58,400.
