Citroën plans a rival for the Dacia Spring built in India
The French brand, which is part of the Stellantis group, wants to offer low-cost electric city cars and could manufacture them in India.

A few days ago Citroën announced that it was in talks to begin producing small electric city cars in an Asian country. That note spoke of starting to work with factories in India, a country that offers better cost conditions for vehicles of this type. And now it has been announced that the brand with the chevrons could be preparing the launch of an electric city car for Europe based on the Citroën C3 electric that is built in that Asian country.
This model is a crossover between the small city car and the SUV C3 Aircross, and it will be based on a simplified version of the CMF platform. All of this will mean that its manufacturing cost will be much lower than that of other similar models. Its name remains a mystery, but it could be Citroën ë-C3.

Its styling and equipment could have been anticipated by the Citroën Oli prototype, a revolutionary concept car that has surprised everyone since it was presented a few weeks ago. That said, it will be electric and will have the affordable-car approach that many potential buyers are looking for in order to enter electric mobility without having to opt for a premium vehicle.
This strategy aims to position Citroën as the most affordable brand within the Stellantis group. So, if this move turns out well, the best-selling electric cars in the group could be precisely those from Citroën, which will offer low-priced electric models.
That low price should be around 20,000 euros, since other similar models on the European market have prices exceeding 30,000 euros, such as the Opel e-Corsa. If production costs fall, this new Citroën model could offer a sustainable alternative to electric mobility.
Either way, this model that aims to position itself ahead of the Dacia Spring will not arrive for a few years, so we hope there will be an official confirmation to see what the French brand is preparing.
