Citroën Type Holidays Concept, a prototype that will reach the market at the end of the year
Citroën will have a new range of “camper” vans with the Type Holidays Concept as the star of its announcement before revealing more details at the end of the year

In recent years we have seen many brands join the trend of bringing back to the present iconic models from their past that are no longer in their line-up, something Citroën has also done, though with certain nuances, since Citroën has used current models from its range that have been modified to look as close as possible to the iconic model in question.
In this way, in 2017 we saw them bring back a modern reinterpretation of the Citroën H, manufactured from 1947 to 1981, using a Citroën Jumper that resulted in the spectacular Type H prototype. More recently, specifically last year, they carried out a new project using the same formula, with the Berlingo as the base vehicle to create a modern 2CV AU, which, incidentally, went into production earlier this year.

But let’s return to the first project, the Type H, a van that is now once again the star, as attendees of the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon could see; the show closed a new edition just a few days ago, where Citroën was present with the Type Holidays Concept. The “camper” world keeps gaining followers every year, with roughly 90,000 leisure vans registered in Europe, a niche Citroën knows very well, taking advantage of its van range and now surprising us with a different and very distinctive proposal.

The Citroën Type Holidays Concept is basically a SpaceTourer whose body panels have been modified and, as in the brand’s earlier “retro” projects, Italian coachbuilder Caselani was once again entrusted with the work. To do this, new panels have been fitted at the front, sides and rear, along with new light units and a grille in the purest classic Citroën style, turning the SpaceTourer into a reinvention of the Type H.

This “retro” atmosphere will contrast with the technology inside the Type Holidays Concept, where the Slovenian specialists Bravia Mobil were entrusted with equipping it with everything needed for travel. Thanks to the two side doors and the rear tailgate with independently opening glass, we can access its interior, where we will find elements such as:
- Pop-up roof with a bed for two people
- Two-row bench that converts into a bed, and is also removable to increase storage space
- Cupboards for storing objects and belongings
- Front seats that can swivel
- Full kitchen with cooking area, sink and fridge
- Folding table
- Webasto stationary heating so you can travel at any time of the year
The best part? The Type Holidays Concept will mark the start of a new range joining Citroën’s line-up, and we will soon bring you more news about it; in fact, we will do so before the end of the year.
