Citroën will fit engines from BMW

Peugeot already uses an engine co-developed with BMW, a 1.6-litre, but now it is the turn of the other half of the PSA Group, Citroën. For some it was only a matter of time…
The engines to be shared are expected to be 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre. The debut could take place in the Citroën C5, which, although it will not have them from the start, will adopt them around the second half of 2009.
The engine used in the French saloon will be the 1.6 in its naturally aspirated 120 CV version, and in its two supercharged versions of 150 CV and 175 CV. With this, the naturally aspirated 1.8-litre 125 CV and 2-litre 140 CV engines could be discontinued for that model. Additionally, these engines will feature the Stop-Start system from the German brand, with the resulting fuel savings.
