Connectivity will be a strong point of the future Honda e

The Honda e already has a large number of people interested in it, and that is because its features are complemented by the technological capacity for its interior

Perhaps one of the most anticipated electric models yet to arrive is the Honda e, since the Japanese brand has managed to bring together very interesting features in its upcoming electric city car: a modern and eye-catching design with retro touches, acceptable power and range, and plenty of fun thanks to its sporty tuning, along with driving modes that will let us get every last drop of performance out of it.

Apart from these details we have learned recently, Honda wants to explain what we will find when we sit behind its wheel, both driver and passengers, and the technology inside the Honda e will also play an important role. It blends perfectly with the minimalist character the brand proposes, together with materials in which textiles and wood have been used, creating an environment that, according to Honda itself, invites calm.

Once seated in the Honda e, we will see that the dashboard is dominated by the digital panel running across it, with its ends given over to screens for the exterior mirrors, since, as you will remember, the Honda e replaces conventional mirrors with cameras that send the image to the interior via screens. The interior rear-view mirror is also a screen, which shows the image captured by a camera aimed at the rear.

At the driver’s command position we will find an 8.8-inch TFT screen for his exclusive use, showing the normal information found in any other vehicle, plus the state of charge and power supply, the selected driving mode and data on the safety functions. But the ones that will certainly attract the most attention are the two 12.3-inch LCD touchscreens, dedicated to the infotainment system and designed to offer a clean, intuitive interface, although they allow us to customise them to our liking.

To make it easier to use, its look is based on that of the smartphones we are so accustomed to using, and both screens will be synchronised, thus allowing us to move content from one to the other at any time, keeping what we need most always at hand. But this does not stop both screens from working independently, being able to offer different content to the driver and the front passenger. For example, while the driver has the navigation visible, the passenger can select music or carry out any other action, since the Honda e offers connectivity via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and even allows internet access through your devices thanks to the included WiFi access point.

Smartphones will also have a lot to say, because thanks to them we can stay connected to our Honda e remotely, using the app offered by Honda, which lets us access functions such as monitoring battery charging, checking range, vehicle status, climate control, safety functions, locking and unlocking, or location tracking, the latter alerting us if the vehicle moves outside a set area known as a “geofence”.
