Could Volvo and Saab cooperate to manufacture convertibles?

A rumor from Sweden suggested that the two companies were negotiating a possible agreement, which would allow them to develop a platform for a new convertible. The information published by the newspaper Dagens Industri was based on statements from a representative of Volvo, Olle Axelson, who initially indicated that the company was in talks with Saab.
However, representatives of the manufacturers stated that the speculation was unfounded, because Volvo is currently focused on the Chinese market and Saab has other priorities.
On the other hand, the spokespeople also clarified that both companies are indeed in talks about distribution and supply of auto parts, which opens the possibility of future cooperation for the development of larger projects.
