CUPRA moves ahead as an independent brand with the opening of a new headquarters

CUPRA continues working as an independent brand and, to that end, has begun building its own headquarters, which will open its doors in 2020.

It is true that CUPRA remains closely tied to SEAT, but the new division of Spanish sports cars has sought to considerably increase the distance between them. To this end, construction will begin on a new headquarters exclusive to CUPRA, featuring facilities in line with the brand’s principles. In this way, the most radical domestic brand will have more tools to reach the end of this path toward complete independence, which will culminate in the creation of its own models that are not present at SEAT, with more restrained and tamer engines and trims.

In this way, CUPRA shows us that the steps needed to become an independent brand are not simple and require considerable effort. However, a headquarters of its own for the Spanish firm will be an essential component not only for its establishment in Spain, but also in the other markets where CUPRA operates, since its visibility will increase substantially.

A building true to CUPRA’s principles

When a brand has a sporty DNA, it is carried over to all the elements around it, and CUPRA’s headquarters was not going to be an exception. Although roughly a year remains before its inauguration, the plans already reveal architectural features and lines that faithfully represent the spirit of the brand and of its offspring.

This new building will be located next to SEAT’s central headquarters, and will be an open, multipurpose space of 2,400 square metres. It will take the form of a racing paddock and will have two floors, housing the brand’s sales, marketing, purchasing and finance departments. For its construction, a 10,500 square metre plot in the middle of nature has been chosen, which is why the heart of CUPRA will have a generous outdoor courtyard for open-air activities.

Changes at SEAT Sport

Until now, SEAT Sport has served as CUPRA’s home and, although the brand will now have its own headquarters, it will keep a reserved space at its origins. This is because renovations are underway at SEAT Sport, where CUPRA Racing Factory will also be housed, a department essential to a brand linked to racing as CUPRA is.

Work is currently underway on the design of the Spanish brand’s headquarters, and it is expected to be completed during 2019. However, it will not be until 2020 that it opens its doors, a moment that will mark a before and after in the brand’s history by bringing greater establishment and an even stronger presence in today’s market.
