The prototype of the Cupra Terramar makes its first public appearance
The sporting brand presents the first image of the Cupra Terramar prototype, its first car of its own
It seems hard to believe, but it has been a year since Cupra hit the market as an independent manufacturer. To be precise, on February 22 the subsidiary brand of Seat saw the light as a brand and its own marque. That is why, since then, the flow of news related to Cupra cars has been almost as voluminous as that of the parent brand itself.
Anticipation for the upcoming new Cupra models has not waned, even though the only one you can find in the manufacturer’s showrooms or dealerships is the Cupra Ateca.

So, to keep the flame of interest from going out, Cupra has shown its intention to set itself apart from Seat by offering exclusive products, as exclusive as the first Cupra car. A model unrelated to Seat. Capable of making people forget Seat. One that could not be found in its most modest version at a Seat showroom. Because Cupra is not Seat, it is Cupra.
The Cupra Terramar prototype ready to debut
Today, Cupra has shown the first image of what will be its first car of its own. A vehicle that will be previewed in the form of a prototype whose name we already know: Cupra Terramar.
As expected, Cupra has once again chosen the SUV architecture for one of its cars. And that makes two out of two.
The vehicle we see is the first and only image of the prototype that will lead to the very Cupra Terramar. As a teaser, a crossover with impressive muscularity is shown. Or at least it seems so, thanks to the lines created by the play of light and shadow, which reveal a body with a noticeably wide rear axle in contrast with the delicate sculpting of its rear pillars.
The lighting that runs across the entire rear wraps around sharp headlights that are linked by the dynamic red line covering the brand’s signature emblem. A logo, that of Cupra, in copper tones against a background reminiscent of carbon fibre mesh, appears on a vehicle that seems to have been painted in a dark colour with a matte finish.

Nothing is known yet about the engine the production version of the Cupra Terramar will use. There is speculation that it will repeat the two-litre petrol unit, a 300 CV TSI from its sibling, the Cupra Ateca, and that it will be paired with all-wheel drive. This has yet to be confirmed.
What we do know for certain is that this future concept car, the Cupra Terramar, will be shown for the first time to the scrutiny of enthusiasts and curious onlookers at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Swiss auto show will take place between 5 and 17 March.
