Daimler ends negotiations with Aston Martin over Maybach

Daimler AG has decided to end the negotiations it was holding with Aston Martin to manufacture future models of the Maybach. The failed luxury brand of Daimler is struggling between life and death, as the Germans sought to improve the quality and image of the brand, looking for a manufacturer specialised in low-volume production but of high quality.
The candidate that had been considered for some time was Aston Martin, which would use Maybach engines and platforms for its own models. The British brand will have to discontinue some of its V12 engines supplied by Ford, so Maybach’s offer was a good opportunity to update its models going forward.
With no allies left to keep Maybach afloat, it is said that Daimler’s only option would be to permanently shut down the brand, something many of us began to take for granted even before knowing the outcome of the talks with Aston Martin.
