David Brown's Speedback GT will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show, but we're seeing it first

One of the limited-run car makers with a distinctly British flavour, David Brown Automotive, will present a 2017 version of its most luxurious model, the Speedback GT, handcrafted using the finest materials and with exquisite attention to every detail

Some brands unveil several new products every year, whether completely new models or variations, updates or versions of models that revisit familiar cars and allow them to refresh their line-ups. Others, on the other hand, devote themselves to building cars in very, very short and exclusive runs. These cars stand out from the rest for their exclusivity, luxury and features.

David Brown Automotive is one of those brands that almost nobody knows, that offers only a handful of models and that is spectacularly impressive. This British manufacturer will present two units of the Speedback GT, the 2017 version, which will be the stars of the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show, held in early March.

This model has a very clear reference point: the Aston Martin DB5, which its bodywork pays tribute to. An exterior, incidentally, made of aluminium and handcrafted with a great deal of British taste, which is this manufacturer’s hallmark. A very striking image, combining that very traditional, very English design with specifications that bring it fully into the 21st century.

Beneath the skin, on the other hand, it is based on another great model from the British market. This is the Jaguar XKR, including the powerful 5.0-litre V8 engine with an output reaching 510 CV. And this luxury is not only present in the mechanical part of the car; it also features an interior suited to the demanding buyers who will be interested in the model.

David Brown Automotive’s cars are built with all the care and the highest quality. The seats meet the conditions for both driver and passengers to enjoy the journey in comfort. Every detail can be personalised to the buyer’s taste, so that everything is just right. To achieve this, they use the highest-quality materials possible. Leather, hand-polished metal and other luxury elements of the highest grade available to the manufacturer are part of the model’s construction.

An example of the care taken over each car’s appearance is the application of the paint. To achieve the final finish, a total of eight weeks is needed to apply the 14 coats of paint that the bodywork receives. All of this, of course, following the buyer’s instructions so that everything is ready down to the smallest detail. And the price, naturally, reflects all this care. Each unit will cost about £500,000, so it is not within everyone’s reach. That said, whoever owns one will enjoy a car that is not unique, but almost. We’ll see it in Geneva, and there we can check whether it is as special as it seems.
