Detroit Show 2012: Falcon F7

The Falcon F7 is a full-blown sports car built by Mach 7 Motorsports, using General Motors V8 engines.

Mach 7 Motorsports builds this sports car entirely in the USA, hoping to set a precedent that American brands can build supercars in the purest Italian style. In terms of styling, it is more than achieved; but when it comes to the engines, you have to make do with what you can get rather than what you want.

Thanks to GM’s V8 engines, the LS7, LS9 and the various tuning packages that have flooded the market over the years, the Falcon F7 can move with great ease. It is not an appropriate choice for the gentleman driver used to Ferrari or Lamborghini, but it delivers over 600 horsepower and 813 Nm of torque with a total weight of 1,263 kilos.

The problem with this type of car is the price: a well-crafted design, with certain technology (traction control, stability systems, etc.), good finishes, and yet an additional premium that tries to justify a certain aura of exclusivity, makes it very difficult to keep the final price under control. The Falcon F7 is reportedly around 225,000 dollars.

There is no further data that would let us know whether it will ever reach the market at that price and as a complete unknown; nor even whether Mach 7 Motorsports’ effort will move forward and whether we will see it again at some other show.
