Discover the features of the Hyundai Kona with these three videos

The all-new Hyundai Kona will arrive in our market next September, and we will be getting to know more about this small Korean SUV to find out what it has in store for us. Hyundai has released three videos that showcase some of the technical features of this original vehicle. To start, one video shows how the emergency braking system fitted to the model works.

This system, called AEB, works in three stages, thanks to a system of cameras and radar installed at the front. In the first stage, it issues a visual and audible alert if it determines there is a risk of collision. If the driver does not respond to the signals, the system takes control of the brakes and acts according to the level of risk at each moment. Finally, if the risk is unavoidable because the driver has not taken action, it applies maximum braking force to bring the car to a complete stop to avoid the impact or, at the very least, minimise the damage caused by the collision.

This additional equipment may be included as an option depending on the trim level. In total there are five driver assistance technologies that improve the safety of the occupants and of other road users. These are the lane keeping assist system (LKAS), the high beam assist (HBA), the driver attention alert (DAA), the blind spot detector (BSD) and the rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA).

With these systems, the Kona will be able to help the driver stay within the lane, even steering if necessary, and will monitor the driver’s level of attentiveness to detect signs of fatigue, among other things. The remaining videos cover the Kona’s aerodynamic design and, conceptually, how power is distributed to the wheels. Power is the star of the third video, so we get a bit more information, albeit conceptual, about this model that will arrive in a few weeks. Shall we watch them?
