Does the Cardi Concept 422 ring a bell? It should, because it is a Russian-style Aston Martin DB9.

The Aston Martin DB9 is one of the best-known models in Aston Martin’s history and has surprised us several times over the years. But its career is not over yet, and some versions have emerged from workshops specialised in car personalisation. This is the case with the latest one we have heard about, which comes from the company Cardi.

This car is called the Cardi Concept 442 and offers a very attractive take on this model. In fact, it is a complete reinvention of the model it is based on, starting from a brand-new body. Yes, we can see the design scheme that tells us it is a Aston Martin, but it has distinctive features that make it something unique.

To begin with, Cardi took a DB9 to its workshop and “stripped it down“, removing its body. It is not just a matter of removing the panels: the B-pillars have been eliminated to reinforce the look of a brand-new car. The idea is that when we see this car we think of one of those imposing luxury yachts that dock in ports all over the world.

So this is not a facelift of the Aston Martin DB9, but a car that is genuinely new in its styling. What we do not know is whether the changes go beyond the aesthetics, both exterior and interior. The Russian company has not released any data about changes it may have made under the bonnet, whether the engine has been modified or whether it keeps the same mechanics as the DB9.

There is no information either about when this customised version will launch, or even the price it will carry. What is clear is that it is a whim that a potential buyer would put in their garage and that, according to Cardi, will not have a very long run, since it will be a very limited edition. What do you think of this change to the Aston Martin DB9?
