Doking XD: the luxury electric mini-car
The Doking XD is an electric mini-car, created by the Croatian firm Doking, which aims to bring luxury and comfort to the urban car segment.

We had this electric mini-car pending, which has been presented at the Los Angeles show, under the banner of the unknown Croatian brand Doking. The idea behind the Doking XD is to bring luxury to the electric mini-car range.
The Doking XD can be driven by up to four electric motors, with a maximum output of up to 180 kW. But what matters here is not the powertrain, but the level of interior finish, which is more in line with a high-end luxury car than with an urban vehicle.
Two years after Doking’s first sketches, the bodywork is now made entirely of Kevlar, a very lightweight material though not exactly cheap. The seats are arranged in a “Y” formation, which is not exactly a novel concept, and we can see little of the interior in the images, but apparently great care has been taken with it, with the option to change the seat configuration and the central position of the steering wheel. The detail of the “X”-shaped rear lights is interesting and not seen on any other model.
The price is not a point in the Doking XD’s favour, with a final price of 50,000 euros for the European market, having started from the 10,000 euros that was the initial price at the outset. I would like to know how many people would be willing to pay such an amount for a mini-car.
Not even the historic Aston Martin has managed to establish its Cygnet in this luxury mini-car segment, but perhaps Doking will have more luck.
